20 minutes…
It can be an unexpected feeling of love… of warm hands, the feeling of her heart trembling as though she were cupping a small bird. 20 minutes of forgetting everything but this feeling. A sudden amnesia strikes her until she feels less alone in the world. 20 minutes of hearing the seconds tick by. Realising that this feeling, this joy and warmth is quickly fading and moving away from her, until she is left empty handed… grasping… trying to remember every small detail.
The spaces between those 20 minutes fill up each of her days and pours over into the next. Inside is a hole that she didn’t know was there. It is like a shadow resting on her shoulder. Forever changing her. She can’t help but search for the heavy scent of falling summer flowers, listen for the ocean’s voice in abandoned seashells… or scan for that familiar face in the crowd.
